Rising Stars: Meet Christian Valverde of North Kansas City

Well – this was dope! I had the opportunity to sit down with VoyageKC Magazine to share my story, and honestly, it felt great to reflect on how far this journey has taken me.

We dove into some territory I don’t often talk about publicly—like how I went from making drag-and-drop greeting cards on our family computer as a kid to painting my first canvas at 18 with a broken frame my friend Jason gave me. I also opened up about those brutal early years when I was dead broke, loading paintings into my ’89 Ford Ranger for guerrilla-style First Fridays setups, wondering if any of this would actually work out.

The conversation covered my unexpected path from street artist to participating in 50 exhibitions and four solo shows by age 24, my current work as a marketing automation engineer (which satisfies my left brain while painting feeds my right), and why being entirely self-taught shaped everything about how I approach both art and life.

We also talked about my psychedelic color palette, why some paintings take a day and others take seven years, and my recent deep dive into videography and streaming—because apparently I can’t stop exploring new creative frontiers.

A huge shout-out and thank you to VoyageKC for the opportunity to tell my story.
