I worked on this piece for two years. Painted it, hated it, scraped it all away. Started over. Did it again. And again.

“Resilience in Layers” became exactly what its title says—layers of doubt, layers of starting fresh, layers of not knowing if I’d ever get it right. My wife kept telling me to trust the process. I kept destroying months of work.

Then I got invited to contribute to the Sammie Sunshine Foundation. That invitation gave me a reason to finally finish what I’d started. I stopped fighting the canvas and let it become what it needed to be.

What you see now is perseverance turned into paint. It’s about letting go of perfect and moving forward anyway. Finishing this piece wasn’t just about creating art—it was about learning when to stop, when to push, and when to trust that imperfection can be beautiful.
